Abstract: Some people like to read while listening to songs. In doing so, we don’t know whether they can keep focus on their reading or conversely enjoy the songs. However, when reading a scientific article, do favorable and unfavorable songs give any significant effect to the readers’ attention? This study aims to explore how far can favorable and unfavorable affect the students’ attention in reading scientific article. 4 graduate students participated in this study; the qualitative descriptive design is used. The research shows various results, that are expected to give distinguished point of view where both favorable and unfavorable songs may play significant roles in keeping their attention in reading a complex text that is scientific article.
