Pengertian Psikologi Pendidikan

Psikologi pendidikan merupakan suatu studi yang bersifat sistematis mengenai tingkah laku manusia dalam proses belajar-mengajar serta faktor-faktor yang terlibat dalam pengajaran dengan kegiatan belajar seseorang (Uyun dan Warsah, 2021).

Duchesne dan McMaugh (2019) mengatakan bahwa psikologi pendidikan merupakan cara untuk menerapkan prinsip-prinsip psikologi ke dalam konteks pendidikan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan pengajaran.

Ruang Lingkup Psikologi Pendidikan

Samuel Smith (dalam Syah, 2016) menyebutkan beberapa ruang lingkup psikologi pendidikan yaitu:

1. Pengetahuan tentang psikologi pendidikan
2. Hereditas atau karakteristik pembawaan sejak lahir
3. Lingkungan bersifat fisik
4. Perkembangan siswa
5. Proses tingkah laku
6. Hakikat dan ruang lingkup belajar
7. Faktor yang mempengaruhi belajar
8. Hukum dan teori belajar
9. Pengukuran, yakni prinsip dasar dan batasan pengukuran/evaluasi
10. Transfer belajar, meliputi mata pelajaran
11. Sudut pandang praktis mengenai pengukuran
12. Ilmu statistika dasar
13. Kesehatan rohani
14. Pendidikan membentuk watak
15. Pengetahuan psikologi tentang mata pelajaran sekolah menengah
16. Pengetahuan psikologi tentang mata pelajaran sekolah dasar

Manfaat Mempelajari Psikologi Pendidikan

Manfaat mempelajari psikologi pendidikan menurut Suralago (2021) yaitu:

– Memahami siswa sebagai pembelajaran, meliputi perkembangannya, karakteristi, kemampuan dan kecerdasan, motivasi, minat, pengalaman, sikap, kepribadian dan lainnya.
– Memahami prinsip-prinsip dan teori pembelajaran
– Memilih metode-metode pembelajaran
– Memilih dan menetapkan tujuan pembelajaran
– Membantu siswa yang mengalami kesulitan belajar
– Memilih alat bantu pembelajaran
– Menilai hasil dari proses pembelajaran
– Memilih sistem evaluasi yang tepat
